Your privacy matters to us. SonoScript processes all data locally on your device — no cloud, no tracking.

The protection of your personal data is very important to us. We treat personal data confidentially and in accordance with applicable data protection regulations and this privacy policy.

This privacy policy explains which personal data we collect when you use our website, for what purposes it is processed, and what rights you have as a data subject.

2SonoScript — Local Data Processing

SonoScript is a native macOS app for speech-to-text recognition. All speech processing takes place exclusively on your Mac. No audio data, transcripts or usage data is sent to our servers or any third party. The speech model is downloaded once and runs entirely offline after that.

There are no mandatory accounts, no cloud sync and no tracking within the app. Your voice never leaves your device.

3Hosting and Server Infrastructure

(https://sonoscript.app) This website is hosted on a dedicated server provided by Hetzner Online GmbH, Germany. All servers are located exclusively in Germany.

The server is operated under our own responsibility. It is not a managed hosting arrangement with third-party access. Only authorised personnel of VisionByte GmbH have access to the servers.

For the purposes of technical delivery and security, the web server (Nginx) automatically collects server log files. These may contain the following information:

  • IP address of the requesting device
  • Date and time of access
  • Requested page or resource
  • HTTP status code
  • User agent (browser type and operating system)

Processing is based on Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f DSGVO (legitimate interest in secure and stable website operation). Server log data is used exclusively for technical and security purposes and is regularly deleted or anonymised.

4Web Analytics — Umami

We use Umami, a privacy-friendly, open-source analytics tool. Umami collects no personal data, sets no cookies and creates no user profiles. All data is collected in anonymised and aggregated form.

  • Page views (without attribution to individual users)
  • Time on page
  • Referrer (source page)
  • Device type and browser (without fingerprinting)
  • Country (derived from anonymised IP)

Processing is based on our legitimate interest in analysing website usage (Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f DSGVO). An opt-out is not necessary, as no personal data is processed.

5Purchase Processing — Lemon Squeezy

SonoScript licences are purchased through Lemon Squeezy (Lemon Squeezy LLC, 222 S Church St, Suite 115, Charlotte, NC 28202, USA). When you click "Buy now", you are redirected to sonoscript.lemonsqueezy.com. The following data is collected there:

  • Name and email address
  • Payment information (credit card, PayPal, etc.)
  • Billing address
  • IP address

Lemon Squeezy processes this data as an independent controller for the performance of a contract (Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. b DSGVO). We only receive your email address and licence information from Lemon Squeezy in order to provide the product. lemonsqueezy.com/privacy

6Cookies

This website uses no consent-required cookies. Neither analytics nor marketing cookies are employed.

The legal basis is Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f DSGVO (legitimate interest in the technically correct provision of the website). A cookie consent tool is not required.

7External Links

Our website contains links to external websites (e.g. Lemon Squeezy, VisionByte). These are not embedded content (embeds). Visiting our website does not trigger any automatic data transfer to the respective platform operators. The privacy policies of the respective providers only apply once you click a link.

8No Additional Data Collection

No further personal data is stored beyond the above. In particular, there is:

  • No newsletter
  • No contact form
  • No user accounts or logins
  • No comment functionality
  • No upload capabilities for users
  • No social media plugins or embeds
  • No content delivery network (CDN)
  • No Google Analytics, Google Fonts or comparable third-party services
  • No profiling or tracking measures
